Induction hob zone will not heat, display shows F01 when attempting to start a cooking zone.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the range or cooktop from mains power at the breaker before removing any panels. Induction electronics store high voltage; do not touch capacitors immediately after unplugging.
- Power reset: Turn off the breaker for 5–10 minutes to allow the control to fully discharge, then restore power and test the affected zone. Sometimes F01 is a latched overheat fault.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the cooktop has the required clearance under the glass (per De Dietrich installation manual). Remove any drawers or items blocking airflow to the underside cooling vents.
- Inspect cooling fan: Remove the hob from the worktop (if built-in). Access the underside and visually check the cooling fan. Spin the fan blades by hand (power OFF). If stiff, noisy, or seized, the fan must be replaced.
- Check for dust and grease: Clean dust buildup from the fan and heat sinks using a soft brush and vacuum. Do not use liquids on the electronics.
- Board inspection: With the bottom cover removed, inspect the power module for burn marks, cracked components, or bulged capacitors. If any damage is visible, the power module should be replaced rather than repaired on component level.
When to call a technician: If F01 returns immediately after a reset and ventilation is clear, the power module or its temperature sensor is likely defective and should be replaced by a qualified De Dietrich service technician.
