Possible Causes

Open-circuit grill heating element, burnt or loose wiring at grill terminals, faulty grill relay on control board, overtemperature cut-out tripped near the grill area.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.

  • Visual inspection: Visually inspect the grill element inside the oven for visible breaks, blisters, or burn marks.
  • Access terminals: Remove the rear panel to access the grill element terminals, and check for loose or burnt connectors.
  • Test continuity: Disconnect one terminal and measure the resistance across the grill element. Infinite resistance indicates a failed element.
  • Check safety thermostat: Some models have a thermal cut-out near the grill. Test it for continuity; if open, it may have tripped due to overheating and might need replacement.
  • Replace components: Replace a faulty grill element or a tripped/open safety thermostat with DeLonghi-approved parts. If these components are functional but F18 persists, the grill relay on the control board may be defective, and the board should be replaced.
