Flame Detection / Ignition Switch Stuck
Gas cooktop burner ignites but keeps clicking even after the flame is established.

Possible Causes
Wet or dirty spark electrode, misaligned electrode relative to the flame, a stuck ignition switch on the control knob, or moisture in the switch harness.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the burner and disconnect power to the cooktop.
- Dry electrodes: If the issue started after a spill, remove burner caps and heads and gently dry the spark electrodes with a soft cloth. Allow the cooktop to air dry for several hours.
- Clean electrodes: Remove grease buildup from the ceramic and metal tip of each electrode using a non-abrasive pad.
- Check alignment: Ensure the electrode tip is close to the burner cap edge where the flame appears.
- Inspect switches: Remove knobs and check that the ignition switches return to the off position when knobs are released. Replace any switch that feels sticky or remains engaged.
- Test operation: Restore power and gas, then test each burner. If clicking persists on one burner only, focus on that burner’s switch and electrode.
