Possible Causes
Open-circuit hotplate element, faulty infinite switch or energy regulator, burned wiring at element terminals, failed hotplate thermostat (if fitted)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the cooker from mains before removing any panels.
- Visual inspection: For radiant glass-ceramic zones, look for burn marks or cracks under the glass. For solid plates, check for obvious damage.
- Access element: Lift the cooktop surface or remove the rear panel to access the element terminals and switches.
- Test element: Disconnect the suspect element and measure its resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Check control switch: Test the infinite switch or energy regulator for continuity between terminals when turned on. Replace if it does not switch correctly.
- Inspect wiring: Repair or replace any burned or loose wires and terminals.
