Possible Causes
Spilled food or grease on elements, Foil touching elements, Insulation or wiring overheating, Foreign object left in oven cavity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: If you see flames or heavy smoke, switch off power and keep the door closed. Allow to cool before inspection.
Steps:
- 1. Visual inspection: Check elements and cavity for burnt-on food, plastic, or foil. Remove any foreign objects.
- 2. Clean cavity: Use a non-caustic oven cleaner (following instructions) to remove heavy grease, especially near elements.
- 3. Check wiring and insulation: Remove rear panel and inspect for signs of burning on insulation or wiring. Replace any burnt components.
- 4. Burn-off cycle: After cleaning and repairs, run the oven empty at 200–220°C for 30–45 minutes with good ventilation to burn off residues.
