Possible Causes

Shorted touch control glass panel, damaged ribbon cable between touch panel and control board, failed electronic control module (EGO/ELIN main PCB), moisture ingress behind control panel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the range from mains power at the breaker before removing any panels. Capacitors on the control board can retain charge; avoid touching bare circuitry.

Step-by-step:

  • Power reset: Turn off the circuit breaker for 5–10 minutes, then restore power. If F1 returns immediately, continue.
  • Inspect control panel: Remove the upper front trim to access the touch glass and control PCB. Check for signs of moisture, grease, or corrosion on the back of the glass and on the ribbon connector.
  • Clean and reseat ribbon: Gently unplug the flat ribbon cable from the main control board. Clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free swab, then firmly reseat.
  • Check for cracked glass or stuck keys: Press each touch area on the front. If any key feels sunken or permanently activated, the touch panel is likely shorted.
  • Test with panel disconnected: With power off, disconnect the touch panel ribbon and restore power briefly. If F1 disappears and the board powers without error, the touch panel is defective.
  • Replace faulty part: Replace the touch control glass panel if the keypad is shorted, or the main control module if F1 persists with the panel disconnected.

When to stop: If you are not comfortable working around live mains or removing the glass fascia, contact a qualified Kuppersbusch service technician.
