Possible Causes
Faulty communication between user interface board and power module, Loose harness connectors, Firmware mismatch after part replacement, Failed control module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing internal components.
- Power cycle: Turn the breaker OFF for 5 minutes, then ON to reset the electronics.
- Check harness connections: Remove the cooktop from the counter if necessary and access the underside. Inspect and reseat all multi‑pin connectors between the touch control board and the power modules.
- Look for corrosion or damage: Any signs of moisture, corrosion, or burnt connectors indicate the need for harness or board replacement.
- Module replacement: If E4 persists after reseating connectors, one of the modules is likely defective. Replace the user interface board or power module as directed by La Cornue service documentation.
