How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the cooker at the wall isolator and remove the fuse or turn off the circuit breaker. Confirm the appliance is completely cold before working near the oven cavity.
Steps to check the temperature sensor:
- Locate the main oven temperature sensor at the rear of the main oven cavity (usually a thin metal probe held by 1–2 screws inside the cavity, with wires leading through the rear panel).
- Remove the oven shelves, then remove the sensor fixing screw(s) and gently pull the sensor tip forward to access the wiring connector from inside, or from the rear panel depending on model.
- Disconnect the sensor plug and test it with a multimeter set to resistance (ohms). At room temperature, most Leisure NTC sensors should read roughly 500–1200 Ω (exact value varies by model; an open circuit or 0 Ω indicates failure).
- Inspect the sensor wiring harness for heat damage, brittle insulation, or loose connectors where it plugs into the main control PCB behind the control panel.
- If the sensor is out of range or open/shorted, replace it with the correct Leisure oven temperature sensor / NTC probe for your model.
- If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the fault may be on the main control PCB. Check for burnt tracks or components; if found, the PCB will usually need replacement.
When to call a professional: If you are not comfortable removing the cooker from its housing or testing live circuits, or if the PCB appears damaged, contact a qualified appliance technician.
