Safety first: Isolate the cooker at the mains and allow the hob to cool completely before removing it from the worktop.

Check other zones: If only one zone fails, the element or its control is likely at fault.
Access underside (technician): Remove the hob and access the ceramic element from below. Inspect for visible breaks or burnt spots.
Test continuity: Disconnect the element and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
Check regulator: If the element is good, test the energy regulator or control switch feeding that zone.
Replace faulty component: Fit a new radiant element or regulator as required.
