Possible Causes
Faulty spark generator module, Moisture around burner caps and electrodes, Loose ignition electrode connection, Damaged ignition switch in control knob
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Gas safety: If you smell gas, turn off the gas supply immediately, ventilate the room, and do not use electrical switches or open flames. Contact a gas professional.
- Dry the hob: If there has been a spill or cleaning, moisture may be shorting the ignition. Turn off power, remove burner caps, and dry the area thoroughly with a cloth. Allow several hours to air dry.
- Check burner assembly: Ensure burner caps and rings are correctly seated. Misalignment can prevent proper sparking.
- Test ignition: Restore power and turn a knob to the ignition position. Look for a visible spark at the electrode.
- If no spark and E2 remains: The spark generator module or ignition switches may be faulty. Replacement should be carried out by a qualified technician due to gas and mains voltage involvement.
