Possible Causes
Unsuitable cookware, damaged induction coil, faulty pan detection sensor, loose coil wiring to the power module.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Induction hobs contain high-voltage electronics. Disconnect power at the mains before removing any covers.
Steps to check:
- Verify cookware: Use a flat-bottomed, ferrous (magnetic) pan that covers most of the cooking zone. Test with a magnet; it should stick firmly to the base.
- Clean the glass: Wipe the hob surface and ensure there is no large spill, foil, or object between the pan and the glass.
- Try another zone: If the same pan works on other zones, the problem is local to the affected coil or module.
- Internal inspection (qualified persons only): Remove the hob from the worktop and take off the bottom cover. Check the wiring from the affected coil to the induction power module for loose connectors or burnt terminals.
- Check coil continuity: With a multimeter, measure the resistance of the coil. An open circuit indicates a failed coil that must be replaced.
- If the coil and wiring are OK: The induction power module or pan detection circuitry may be faulty. Replacement of the module is typically required and should be performed by a Rangemaster service engineer.
