Possible Causes

Failed oven temperature sensor, shorted keypad, failed electronic oven control, or poor airflow around the control panel.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before working.

  • Reset and cool: If the code appeared during a self-clean cycle, cancel the cycle and let the oven cool for several hours. Reset power at the breaker for 5 minutes and test.
  • Check oven sensor resistance: Remove the back panel. Locate the oven temperature sensor (a thin metal rod inside the oven, wired from the rear). Disconnect its connector and measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature; Whirlpool sensors are typically ~1080 Ω at 70°F (21°C). Replace if open, shorted, or far out of specification.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the sensor to the control board for burns, cuts, or loose connections. Repair or replace as needed.
  • Keypad check (F2-E0/E1): If the subcode indicates a keypad error, reseat the keypad ribbon at the control. If the code persists, replace the keypad or control panel assembly.
  • Replace EOC if needed: If the sensor and wiring test good and F2 persists, replace the electronic oven control board.
