Possible Causes
Failed door latch motor, misaligned door latch, defective door switch, or a wiring issue between the latch and control.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. The door latch mechanism can move unexpectedly if energized.
- Check door closure: Ensure the oven door closes fully and the latch engages smoothly. Adjust the hinges if the door is sagging.
- Inspect latch assembly: Remove the top rear panel to access the door latch motor and switch assembly. Look for broken plastic parts, loose screws, or bent linkage.
- Test latch motor and switch: With a multimeter, check the continuity of the door switch when the latch is in the locked versus unlocked positions. Check the resistance of the latch motor coil. Replace the latch assembly if it is open or mechanically damaged.
- Check wiring: Verify that the harness from the latch to the control board is intact and firmly connected.
- Replace control if needed: If the latch assembly and wiring are good, the control board may not be reading the latch correctly and may need replacement.
