Possible Causes
Failed cooling fan motor, blocked cooling vents, wiring issue to the fan, or a failed fan relay on the control board.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the appliance to cool completely.
- Check vents: Ensure the range has proper clearance and that the vents above the door and behind the control panel are not blocked by foil, pans, or cabinetry.
- Test cooling fan: Access the cooling fan from the rear or top (depending on the model). Spin the fan blade by hand; it should move freely. If seized or noisy, replace the fan motor.
- Electrical test: With power disconnected, check the continuity of the fan motor. With power applied and a bake cycle started, carefully measure voltage at the fan motor (only if you are trained and comfortable working with live voltage). If the control sends power but the fan does not run, replace the fan. If no power is sent, suspect the control board.
- Replace failed component: Install a new cooling fan motor or control board as needed, ensuring all wiring is routed away from hot surfaces.
