Door open alarm sounds even when all doors are properly closed

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing door switch components.

• Check door alignment: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Look for items inside that may be preventing full closure.
• Inspect gasket: Check the door gasket for warping or debris that could keep the door slightly open.
• Test door switch: Locate the door switch (usually at the top or side of the compartment). Press it manually; the interior light should turn off and the alarm should stop. If not, the switch may be faulty.
• Check magnetic sensor (if applicable): Some models use a magnet in the door and a reed sensor in the frame. Ensure the magnet is present and not loose.
• Replace faulty switch: Pry out or unscrew the switch, disconnect the wires, and install a new compatible switch, reconnecting wires as originally.
• Re-test: Restore power and verify that the alarm stops when the door is closed.
