How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and mop up any standing water to prevent slips.
Step 1 – Locate the defrost drain:
- Inside the freezer, remove the rear panel to access the evaporator.
- Find the drain hole at the bottom center of the evaporator tray.
Step 2 – Clear the blockage:
- Use warm (not boiling) water in a turkey baster or syringe to flush the drain hole.
- Push a flexible plastic tube or pipe cleaner gently down the drain to clear debris.
Step 3 – Check rear drain tube and pan:
- At the back of the refrigerator, locate the drain tube exiting into the drain pan.
- Ensure the tube is properly seated and not kinked.
- Clean the drain pan and confirm it is not cracked.
Step 4 – Reassemble and monitor:
- Reinstall the freezer panel and restore power.
- Monitor for several days to ensure no further leaks.
