Possible Causes
Closed or kinked water supply line, Clogged water filter, Frozen water line in refrigerator door, Failed dispenser solenoid valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and close the water supply valve before disconnecting any hoses.
Steps:
- 1. Check water supply: Confirm the household shutoff valve is open and the supply hose is not kinked.
- 2. Replace the water filter: Install a new De Dietrich-compatible filter and purge air by holding the dispenser lever for several minutes.
- 3. Check for frozen lines: If the refrigerator compartment is very cold, the water line in the door may freeze. Raise the refrigerator temperature slightly and leave the door open briefly to warm the area, or defrost the line carefully.
- 4. Test the dispenser valve: Access the water inlet/dispenser valve at the rear. With power off, measure coil resistance; replace the valve if open or shorted.
