How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing any covers.

F3 typically refers to an ambient or cabinet sensor fault used for overall temperature control.

Locate sensor: On many Fisher & Paykel models, the ambient sensor is behind a small grille or cover inside the cabinet or near the air return. Consult the user or service manual for exact location.
Visual inspection: Check that the sensor is not broken, hanging loose, or covered in condensation or ice. Wipe away moisture with a dry cloth.
Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the harness. Look for chafing, pinched sections, or signs of rodent damage. Reseat the connector at the sensor and at the control board if accessible.
Resistance test: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to Fisher & Paykel thermistor charts. Replace if readings are far outside expected range.
Replace sensor: If faulty, install a new ambient/cabinet thermistor. Secure it in the same location and ensure good airflow around it.
If F3 remains: A persistent F3 after sensor replacement suggests a control board fault; contact a qualified technician for board diagnosis and replacement.
