Possible Causes

Defective magnetic reed switch or mechanical door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken wiring in door harness, Faulty input circuit on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing door switch components or trim.

Steps:

  • 1. Check door operation: Open and close the door while observing the interior light and door-open icon on the display. If the light stays on or off incorrectly, the switch may be faulty.
  • 2. Identify switch type: Gaggenau models may use a mechanical plunger switch in the frame or a magnetic reed switch with a magnet in the door. Locate the switch or sensor area.
  • 3. Inspect for damage or misalignment: Ensure the door closes fully and the magnet (if used) aligns with the sensor. Adjust door hinges if necessary.
  • 4. Test the switch: Remove the switch or access the sensor wiring. With power off, check continuity while operating the switch or moving a magnet near the reed sensor. Replace if it does not change state.
  • 5. Check wiring: Inspect the harness for breaks, especially in the hinge area where wires flex. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
  • 6. Replace faulty components: Install a new door switch or reed sensor as required. Ensure it is firmly seated and aligned.

Note: If the switch and wiring are good but E10 persists, the main control board may not be reading the input correctly and may need replacement by a technician.
