Possible Causes

Failed ice maker motor or position sensor, Jammed ice maker mechanism, Damaged wiring to ice maker assembly, Faulty ice control circuit on main board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power and shut off the water supply before servicing the ice maker.

Steps:

  • 1. Check for jams: Remove the ice bin and inspect the ice maker for jammed cubes or foreign objects. Clear any obstructions.
  • 2. Reset ice maker: Some Gaggenau ice makers have a reset button or can be reset by turning the ice maker off and back on via the control panel. Perform a reset and observe operation.
  • 3. Inspect wiring: Access the ice maker assembly (usually in the freezer compartment). Check the harness and connectors for damage or loose connections.
  • 4. Test motor and sensor (advanced): With power off, check resistance of the ice maker motor and position sensor (if separate). Replace the ice maker assembly if components are open or shorted.
  • 5. Replace ice maker assembly: If E13 persists and the mechanism is not jammed, install a new Gaggenau-compatible ice maker assembly.

Note: If the ice maker tests good but E13 remains, the main control board may have a fault in the ice control circuit and should be evaluated by a technician.
