Possible Causes
Blocked defrost drain hole under evaporator, Frozen drain tube in rear, Misaligned drain funnel, Cracked drain pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing panels. Water on the floor can cause slips—wipe up spills promptly.
Steps:
- 1. Identify leak source: Check if water is coming from inside the fresh food or freezer compartment (front) or from the rear drain pan area.
- 2. Clear internal drain: Remove freezer drawers and rear panel to access the evaporator tray and drain hole. Use warm (not boiling) water in a turkey baster or squeeze bottle to flush the drain until water flows freely to the rear pan.
- 3. Clear rear drain tube: At the back, locate the rubber drain tube leading to the drain pan. Remove and clean it with warm water and a flexible brush. Reinstall securely.
- 4. Check drain pan: Inspect the Haier drain pan above the compressor for cracks or misalignment. Replace if damaged.
- 5. Prevent recurrence: Avoid leaving doors open, which can cause excessive frost and drain freezing. Periodically clean the drain.
