Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coils, Warm room environment, Door gasket leaks, Faulty thermistor or control board not sensing temperature correctly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning coils or inspecting electrical components.
- Clean condenser coils: Use a coil brush and vacuum to remove dust and pet hair from the condenser coils.
- Check door seals: Inspect all door gaskets for gaps or tears. Replace if damaged.
- Verify temperature settings: Set refrigerator to about 37–40°F and freezer to 0°F. Extremely low settings cause longer run times.
- Check for air leaks: Ensure doors are closing fully and that the unit is level so doors self-close.
- Sensor/control issues: If the unit still runs excessively with clean coils and good gaskets, a faulty thermistor or main control board may be misreading temperature and should be tested by a technician.
