Possible Causes

Failed compressor start relay/PTC, Open thermal overload on compressor, Defective compressor, Faulty main control not sending start signal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the compressor area. Do not attempt to open the sealed system.

Steps:

  • Check for clicking: If you hear periodic clicks from the rear, the start device may be trying and failing to start the compressor.
  • Inspect start device: Remove the cover on the compressor terminals and check the start relay/PTC for burn marks or rattling. Replace it if it shows signs of damage.
  • Test compressor windings (advanced): With the start device removed, measure the resistance between the compressor terminals. Infinite or shorted readings indicate a bad compressor.

If a new start device does not restore operation, contact a Miele technician for compressor or control diagnosis.
