How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the power and water supply before working on the ice maker.
Step 1 – Check ice bin and sensor
- Ensure the ice bin is properly installed and not overfilled.
- Clean any ice buildup from the ice level sensor or shutoff arm area.
Step 2 – Inspect fill tube
- Locate the ice maker fill tube at the back of the ice maker.
- If it is blocked with ice, thaw it with a hair dryer on a low setting and check for slow leaks that might refreeze.
Step 3 – Force cycle the ice maker
- Some Sub-Zero ice makers can be manually cycled via a test button or jumper; consult the technical sheet.
- If the ice maker does not move through a harvest cycle, replace the ice maker assembly.
Step 4 – Test ice maker valve coil
- At the dual water inlet valve, test the resistance of the ice maker coil and compare it to the specifications.
- If it is open or out of range, replace the valve.
