Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the household water supply to the refrigerator before disconnecting any water lines. Keep towels handy.
Step 1 – Verify water supply
- Locate the shutoff valve for the refrigerator and ensure it is fully open.
- Check for kinks in the supply line behind or under the unit.
Step 2 – Check water filter
- If your Sub-Zero has a water filter, replace it if it is older than 6–12 months or if the flow has decreased.
- After replacing, run several glasses of water through to purge the air.
Step 3 – Inspect for frozen lines
- On some models, the water line in the door can freeze. Open the door and feel along the inner liner for cold spots.
- If you suspect this, leave the door open for a period or gently warm the area.
Step 4 – Test water inlet valve
- Access the dual water inlet valve at the rear or bottom of the unit.
- With the power on and water connected, activate the dispenser and listen for a click at the valve.
- If there is no sound and voltage is present at the valve, replace the valve.
