Possible Causes
Cracked or displaced drain pan above the compressor, Drain tube is not correctly seated in the pan, Excessive defrost water due to the door being left open, Clogged drain causing an overflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and mop up any standing water to prevent slipping.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect the front area: Check that the leak is not from a water dispenser or filter (if fitted). If so, see water system faults.
- 2. Access the rear drain pan: Remove the rear lower cover and locate the plastic drain pan above the compressor.
- 3. Check the drain tube: Ensure the tube from the cabinet is properly inserted into the pan and is not cracked.
- 4. Inspect the pan: Look for cracks or warping. Replace the pan with the correct V-ZUG drain tray if it is damaged.
- 5. Clear the drain line: Flush the drain from inside the cabinet as described in blocked drain faults.
Warning: If you see signs of mold or contamination, clean the area thoroughly with a mild disinfectant.
