Clogged Defrost Drain
Water is leaking from the front of the refrigerator, forming a puddle under the crisper drawers or at the bottom of the fresh food section.

Possible Causes
Blocked drain hole under the evaporator, ice plug in the drain tube, debris in the drain pan, or a misrouted drain tube.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the refrigerator before removing any panels. Use towels to catch meltwater.
Steps:
- Access the drain: Remove the rear panel inside the freezer to expose the evaporator and drain trough.
- Clear the ice: Use warm water or a turkey baster to melt ice in the drain trough and hole. Do not use sharp tools.
- Flush the drain tube: From inside the freezer, flush warm water down the drain until it flows freely into the drain pan near the compressor.
- Clean the drain pan: Pull the unit out and clean the drain pan of any sludge or debris.
- If the drain repeatedly freezes, consider installing a Whirlpool drain heater kit if one is available for your model.
