Possible Causes
Failed defrost heater, Faulty defrost thermostat or sensor, Defective defrost control on PCB, Poorly sealing door allowing excess moisture to enter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing freezer panels.
Immediate action:
- Manual defrost: Switch off the appliance and leave the doors open for 24 hours to completely melt the ice. Place towels to absorb water.
- Check door seals: Inspect the freezer door gasket for any gaps or damage. Replace if not sealing properly.
- Inspect defrost components: After defrosting, remove the rear freezer panel and visually inspect the heater and thermostat. Burn marks or broken wires indicate failure.
- Test components: If you have a multimeter, test the continuity of the heater and thermostat. Replace faulty parts.
Note: If ice build-up returns quickly, the defrost control on the PCB may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
