Possible Causes
Main brush bearings worn or dry, Side brush motor gearbox noisy, Wheel motor gearbox worn, Foreign object rubbing inside brush housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the robot before inspecting moving parts.
Step-by-step:
- Isolate noise source: Run the robot briefly upside down while holding it securely (only for a few seconds) to identify whether noise comes from brush, wheels, or side brush. Then turn it OFF.
- Inspect main brush: Remove the brush and end caps. Clean hair from bearings. If bearings feel rough or the brush shaft is worn, replace the brush.
- Check side brush: Remove the side brush and run the robot briefly. If noise disappears, replace the side brush or its motor.
- Check wheels: Spin each wheel by hand. Grinding or clicking suggests internal gearbox wear; wheel motor assembly may need replacement.
- Remove foreign objects: Look for small stones, screws, or hard debris inside the brush channel and wheel wells.
If loud grinding persists after cleaning: Replace the noisy component (main brush, side brush motor, or wheel motor) to prevent further damage.
