ILIFE
False Cliff Detection
Robot vacuum repeatedly avoids certain areas or stops at the edges of dark rugs.

Possible Causes
Dark or black carpets interpreted as drop-offs, Highly reflective floors confusing IR sensors, Cliff sensors overly sensitive or dirty, Low ambient light affecting sensor readings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure there are no actual drop-offs where the robot is operating.
Step-by-step:
- Clean cliff sensors: Wipe all underside cliff sensors with a soft cloth.
- Increase lighting: Turn on room lights to improve sensor performance.
- Test on lighter surfaces: Move the robot to a room with lighter flooring to confirm normal operation.
- Use boundary strips: If the robot will not cross a dark rug, consider using boundary strips to exclude that area or manually vacuum it.
Some ILIFE models have limited ability to handle very dark or glossy floors; this is a design limitation rather than a repairable fault.
