Improper Cycle Rate / Differential Settings or Sensing Location Issue
The thermostat cycles heating or cooling on and off very frequently (short cycling).

Possible Causes
Cycle rate set too high, Temperature differential too small, Thermostat near a supply vent or draft, Oversized HVAC equipment
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Only low-voltage and settings changes are needed.
- Adjust cycle settings: In the advanced settings, increase the temperature differential or reduce the cycles-per-hour setting to lengthen run times.
- Check location: Ensure the thermostat is not directly in the path of a supply vent or near an exterior door that causes rapid temperature swings.
- Seal wall drafts: Seal the wall opening behind the thermostat to prevent cold or hot air from the wall cavity from affecting the sensor.
Note: If short cycling persists, have an HVAC technician evaluate equipment sizing and system performance.
