Possible Causes
Thermostat installed above radiator, Direct sunlight heating the unit, Blocked ventilation slots, Internal regulator overheating due to incorrect supply
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before relocating or removing the thermostat.
- Check mounting position: Ensure the Drayton thermostat is not mounted directly above a radiator, towel rail, or other heat source, and not in direct sunlight.
- Improve ventilation: Make sure ventilation slots are not blocked by paint, wallpaper, or furniture. Clean dust from vents with a soft brush.
- Verify supply voltage: Confirm that the thermostat is connected to the correct supply type (mains vs. low voltage) as per Drayton’s installation instructions. Incorrect wiring can cause overheating.
- Relocate if necessary: If the location is unsuitable, move the thermostat to an internal wall away from heat sources, following Drayton’s siting guidelines. Rewire and test. If E8 persists in a good location, replace the thermostat.
