Possible Causes

Flat or incorrectly fitted batteries, No mains supply to thermostat backplate, Loose backplate connection, Blown fuse in fused spur feeding Drayton receiver

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: For mains-powered systems, isolate power at the fused spur or consumer unit before removing covers.

  • Check batteries: On battery-powered Drayton thermostats, fit fresh alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Confirm contacts are clean and springs have good tension.
  • Verify mains supply: For mains-powered models, check that the fused spur is switched on and the fuse is intact. Replace a blown 3A fuse with the same rating.
  • Inspect backplate: Remove the thermostat from its backplate and check that the supply terminals are tight and that the live and neutral are present (test with a multimeter if competent).
  • Test receiver LEDs: On systems with a separate Drayton receiver (e.g. SCR, Heat HubR), check that its power LED is lit. If not, trace and restore the mains supply.
  • Replace thermostat: If power is confirmed at the backplate but the thermostat remains dead, replace the thermostat front module.
