How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: If the housing is too hot to touch, isolate power immediately and allow it to cool before inspection.
- Check installation location: Move the thermostat away from direct heat sources and ensure TRVs are not covered by thick curtains or radiator covers.
- Inspect ventilation: Make sure ventilation openings are not blocked by paint, dust, or furniture.
- Check load rating: Verify that the connected load (boiler, pump, actuators) does not exceed the relay’s rated current. Use an external contactor if necessary.
- Visual inspection: Open the housing and look for discoloration or melted plastic near the power or relay area.
- Replace device: If overheating persists under correct installation and load, replace the thermostat or TRV.
