Possible Causes
Wi-Fi radio turned off in settings, firmware glitch, failed Wi-Fi chipset, severe interference at 2.4 GHz band.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: N1 affects remote access but not basic HVAC control.
- Check network settings: On the Nest, go to Settings > Network and ensure Wi-Fi is turned on.
- Reboot Nest: Press and hold the ring for 10 seconds to restart the thermostat.
- Reduce interference: Move cordless phone bases, baby monitors, or microwave ovens away from the thermostat and router if they are very close.
- Test with another network: If possible, create a mobile hotspot and see if the Nest can detect it. If not, the Wi-Fi hardware may be faulty.
Persistent N1 usually indicates a failed Wi-Fi module; the Nest display may need replacement.
