Possible Causes
Empty fuel tank, Closed fuel shutoff valve, Fouled spark plug, Clogged air filter.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the generator is in OFF mode and battery negative is disconnected while inspecting components.
- Fuel check: Confirm there is adequate fuel in the tank and that the fuel shutoff valve is fully open.
- Air filter: Remove the air filter element and inspect. If heavily soiled, replace with a DuroMax air filter. For a quick test, try starting briefly with the filter removed (do not run long‑term without a filter).
- Spark plug: Remove the spark plug, clean or replace it, and set the gap to the specification in the manual. Ensure the plug wire is firmly attached.
- Choke position: For manual choke, ensure it is fully closed for cold start and gradually opened as the engine fires. For automatic choke, verify linkage moves freely.
- Attempt restart: Reconnect battery negative and attempt to start. If it still will not start, further diagnosis of fuel delivery and ignition timing is required.
