Possible Causes
Blocked ventilation openings, high ambient temperature and inadequate clearance, cooling fan failure, dust buildup on cylinder fins.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and allow it to cool completely. Disconnect the battery negative terminal before cleaning.
- Clearances: Ensure at least the minimum clearance specified by DuroMax (often 3–5 feet) around all sides of the enclosure.
- Clean vents: Remove leaves, dust, and debris from intake and exhaust louvers.
- Cooling fan: Verify that the engine cooling fan operates and that belts (if used) are intact and properly tensioned.
- Clean fins: Use compressed air to blow dust and debris off cylinder and alternator fins.
