Possible Causes
Low fuel level in tank, sticking float in fuel level sender, faulty fuel level sensor wiring, blocked tank vent causing a vacuum lock.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Stop the generator, allow it to cool, and keep away from open flames when working with fuel.
- Check fuel level: Open the fuel cap and visually confirm the fuel level. Refill with clean fuel if low, following Einhell's recommended fuel type.
- Inspect tank vent: Ensure the fuel cap vent hole is not blocked. A blocked vent can cause a vacuum in the tank and fuel starvation. Clean the vent with compressed air or replace the cap.
- Tap the tank gently: Lightly tap the side of the fuel tank near the level sender to free a sticking float. Do not use excessive force.
- Check sensor wiring: Locate the fuel level sensor connector under or beside the tank. Inspect for loose pins or damaged wires. Reseat the connector.
If E12 continues with a full tank and a clear vent, the fuel level sensor may be defective and should be replaced with an Einhell‑compatible sender unit.
