Possible Causes
Incorrect exercise time programming, Disabled AUTO mode, Low battery preventing start, Prior latched fault preventing exercise
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Ensure the area around the generator is clear before initiating a manual test run.
- 1. Check controller mode: Verify the GE controller is set to AUTO. In OFF mode, the unit will not exercise.
- 2. Review exercise schedule: Enter the controller menu and confirm the exercise day and time are set correctly and are not disabled.
- 3. Clear existing alarms: Any active fault (e.g., Overcrank, Low Battery) can prevent exercise. Resolve and clear all alarms by cycling OFF then AUTO.
- 4. Perform manual test: Start the generator in MANUAL or TEST mode to confirm it can run. If it fails, troubleshoot the underlying start/run issue.
- 5. Re-enable exercise: After confirming proper operation, reprogram the exercise schedule and verify the controller displays the next exercise time.
