Possible Causes
Blocked ventilation louvers, exhaust pipe too close to the enclosure or structures, overloading the generator, or high ambient temperature with inadequate clearance.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Exhaust components are extremely hot. Allow the unit to cool before inspection.
- Check clearances: Verify that the generator has the minimum clearances from walls and vegetation as specified by Generac.
- Clean vents: Remove debris from intake and exhaust louvers. Ensure internal baffles are intact.
- Inspect exhaust routing: Confirm that exhaust extensions are properly supported and are not directing heat back onto the enclosure.
- Load check: Ensure the connected load does not exceed the generator's rated kW. Reduce the load if necessary.
