Possible Causes
Loose fuel line fittings, cracked rubber fuel hose, leaking fuel filter seal, faulty fuel tank cap or vent.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Shut down the generator, eliminate ignition sources, and ventilate the area. Wear gloves and eye protection.
- Step 1 – Visual inspection: Follow all fuel lines from the tank to the engine. Look for wet spots, drips, or stains on hoses, the filter, and the injection pump.
- Step 2 – Tighten fittings: Gently tighten hose clamps and threaded fittings. Do not overtighten plastic components.
- Step 3 – Replace damaged hoses: Any cracked or swollen fuel hose should be replaced with fuel-rated hose of the same size.
- Step 4 – Check fuel filter and cap: Ensure the fuel filter is properly seated and its gasket is intact. Inspect the tank cap and vent for cracks or missing seals; replace if leaking.
