Possible Causes

Open or shorted NTC sensor on the heater housing, loose NTC connector, damaged wiring between the NTC and the control board, or a scaled heater causing local overheating and sensor failure.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from the mains and close the water taps.

Check the NTC sensor:

  • Locate NTC: Remove the rear panel. The NTC (temperature sensor) is usually clipped into or bolted onto the heater flange at the bottom of the tub.
  • Inspect connector: Verify that the two-wire plug is fully seated and free of corrosion. Clean contacts if needed and reseat.
  • Measure resistance: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the NTC pins. At room temperature (~20°C), Bauknecht NTCs are typically in the 20–30 kΩ range (check the service manual for the exact specification). If the reading is near 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open), the sensor is faulty.
  • Check wiring: Trace the harness from the NTC to the main control board. Look for breaks, crushed sections, or burnt connectors. Repair any damage.

Replace if faulty: If the NTC is out of specification, replace it. Clear the error by unplugging for 5–10 minutes, then run a test wash.
