Possible Causes
Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain pump impeller, Obstructed drain hose, Failed Bosch drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Water may spill when opening the pump filter; keep towels and a shallow tray ready.
- 1. Access pump filter: Open the small service flap at the bottom front of the machine. Place a tray under the filter cap.
- 2. Drain residual water: If equipped, pull out the emergency drain hose and empty water into the tray. Then slowly unscrew the pump filter cap.
- 3. Clean the filter: Remove lint, coins, buttons, and other debris from the filter and pump cavity. Check that the pump impeller spins freely and is not jammed.
- 4. Inspect drain hose: Check the rear drain hose for kinks or blockages. Detach from the standpipe or sink connection and flush with water if necessary.
- 5. Test operation: Refit the filter securely, close the flap, plug the unit back in, and run a drain or spin cycle. If E03 persists and the pump hums but does not move water, the drain pump motor may need replacement.
- 6. Pump replacement (advanced): Access the pump from the front bottom or rear (model dependent), disconnect wiring and hoses, and install a new Bosch drain pump. If unsure, seek professional service.
