Possible Causes
Mechanically stuck inlet valve, Debris in valve seat, Faulty valve solenoid, Control board holding valve energized
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the water supply taps immediately and unplug the appliance to prevent flooding.
- 1. Confirm valve leakage: With the machine unplugged and water taps open, observe if water continues to enter the drum. If so, the inlet valve is mechanically stuck open.
- 2. Inspect and replace valve: Remove the top cover, locate the inlet valve assembly at the rear, and check for visible cracks or mineral buildup. In most cases, the valve must be replaced rather than cleaned.
- 3. Check wiring: Ensure the valve wiring harness is not shorted or damaged. A short could keep the valve energized.
- 4. Install new valve: Disconnect hoses and wiring, fit a new Bosch water inlet valve, and ensure all seals and clamps are secure to prevent leaks.
- 5. If water only enters when powered: If the valve closes properly when unplugged but overfills during operation, the control board may be energizing the valve incorrectly and should be checked by a technician.
