Possible Causes

Partially blocked drain pump filter, Obstructed drain hose or standpipe, Weak drain pump, Siphoning due to incorrect drain hose height

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and prepare for water spillage.

  • 1. Clean pump filter: Open the lower service flap, drain residual water, and remove the pump filter. Clean thoroughly as described in E03.
  • 2. Check drain hose routing: Ensure the drain hose is installed at the correct height (usually 60–100 cm) and not inserted too far into the standpipe, which can cause siphoning.
  • 3. Inspect hose for blockages: Detach the hose from the standpipe or sink and flush with water to clear any clogs.
  • 4. Test pump: Run a drain-only program and listen for the pump. If it is noisy, weak, or intermittent, the pump may be failing and should be replaced.
  • 5. If E18 persists: A technician should check for internal blockages in the tub-to-pump hose and verify pump voltage from the control board.
