Possible Causes
Failed NTC sensor, loose NTC wiring, heater short affecting the sensor, control board input fault.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the tub area to cool.
- Locate NTC sensor: Remove the rear panel and find the temperature sensor mounted in the heater bracket at the bottom of the tub.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure that the sensor connector is fully seated and that the harness is not damaged or pinched.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare it to KitchenAid specifications. If the reading is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the sensor.
- Check heater for shorts: A shorted heater can skew temperature readings. Test for continuity between the heater terminals and ground; replace the heater if shorted.
- Replace NTC if faulty: Install the correct replacement sensor, secure it in the bracket, reconnect the wiring, and reassemble the rear panel.
- Test cycle: Restore power and run a warm wash cycle to confirm proper heating and that F24 is cleared.
