Possible Causes
Frequent low-temperature washes, Excessive detergent use, Standing water in door seal folds, Blocked drain causing stagnant water
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use appropriate cleaning agents and avoid mixing chemicals (e.g., bleach with acids).
- Step 1 – Drum Cleaning Cycle: Run an empty 90°C maintenance wash with a dedicated washing machine cleaner or a cup of white vinegar (if permitted by the manufacturer) to kill bacteria and remove residue.
- Step 2 – Clean Door Seal/Gasket: Wipe the door seal (gasket) folds with a cloth soaked in mild detergent or diluted bleach. Remove any lint and standing water.
- Step 3 – Clean Detergent Drawer: Remove and thoroughly wash the detergent drawer and its housing to clear mould and soap scum.
- Step 4 – Drain System Maintenance: Clean the pump filter and ensure the machine drains completely to avoid stagnant water.
- Step 5 – Ventilation and Drying: Leave the door and detergent drawer slightly open between uses to allow for proper drying and reduce odour build-up.
