Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer or switch off the breaker before removing any panels. Do not work on live circuits.
- Power reset: Unplug the washer for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try a rinse & spin cycle. Sometimes a transient fault clears.
- Check outlet and supply: Verify the wall outlet has 120 VAC using a meter and that the washer is on a dedicated circuit. Brownouts or surges can trigger this code.
- Inspect control board connections:
- Remove the top panel (usually rear screws, then slide back and lift).
- Locate the main control board (CCU) at the rear or side under the top.
- Disconnect one connector at a time, inspect for corrosion or burnt pins, then firmly reseat.
- Look for visible board damage: Check the CCU for burnt spots, bulging capacitors, or a burnt smell. If present, the board must be replaced.
- Replace the main control board if needed:
- Label all connectors before removal.
- Remove mounting screws, swap in the new Amana-compatible CCU, and reconnect harnesses exactly as before.
- Restore power and run a diagnostic or quick wash to confirm operation.
When to call a technician: If the code returns immediately after a reset and wiring checks good, professional diagnosis of the control and power circuits is recommended.
