Possible Causes
Debris or detergent residue under keypad, physically stuck button, failed touch membrane, moisture-damaged UI board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer before cleaning or disassembling the console.
- Clean the console surface: Wipe the control panel with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap to remove sticky residue. Do not flood the panel with water.
- Check for physically stuck keys: Press each button individually. If one feels different (does not click or remains depressed), gently work it free. Avoid sharp tools that can damage the membrane.
- Dry out moisture: If the panel was recently exposed to steam or splashes, allow it to air dry for several hours with power disconnected.
- Inspect internal UI:
- Remove console screws and carefully open the console.
- Check the keypad membrane and circuit board for corrosion, detergent residue, or liquid damage.
- Clean light residue with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush, then let dry completely.
- Replace UI assembly if needed: If a specific key remains stuck or the code returns, replace the user interface / console assembly with the correct Amana part.
