Possible Causes

Intermittent door lock assembly, loose door lock wiring harness, misaligned door, control board lock driver failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before servicing the door lock or control board.

  • Check door alignment: Ensure the door closes evenly and the hinge is not sagging. Tighten hinge screws if needed.
  • Inspect door lock wiring:
    • Access the lock behind the front panel or door boot.
    • Check the harness for pinched, frayed, or burnt wires.
    • Reseat the connector at the lock and at the main control.
  • Test lock operation: With the front panel off (and extreme caution), restore power and start a cycle to observe whether the lock attempts to engage. Immediately unplug after testing.
  • Replace door lock assembly: If the lock chatters, clicks repeatedly, or fails to stay locked, replace it with the correct Amana part.

If a new lock does not resolve the issue, the main control board's lock relay or driver circuit may be defective and require replacement.
